When you photograph, you become a chronicler and this is why I love photography. It is a sentimental process which starts when you take a camera into your hands but which does not have an end. You can take a photo and forget about it, or you can edit and share it; only one thing remains constant - you can always go back to this photograph. When you do, the sentiment, the atmosphere will still be there. There isn't an expiration date, there is never a sense of closure when you are dealing with photographs. They are snapshots of your life, the memories that you chose to immortalise in order to be able to re-live these moments.
I want to remember, I need to remember. Because this is how it is really going down, this is how we say goodbye whether I am ready or not. The only thing which might help me to get through this is the endless photographs that I have taken over the years. Without doubt they will bring me sadness when I flick through them one cold winter evening next year but the sadness will be bittersweet as it always is.
